Hi All,
Anybody out there using the Zaxcom stereo camera link(trx900)
with built in flash recorder. Is the stereo link reliable and is the
flash recorder easy to use. The manual on the built in recorder is not
that helpful. ie. is it easy to go in and out of record, it appears
clumbsy in the manual? I'd appreciate any feedback from current trx
900 users.

If you search the archives, you will finds lots
of feedback regarding RF performance and
reliability: It is quite good and cam ops love
the one-box, two-channel solution.
Recording feature works well but is a bit clumsy.
It's not as easy as STOP and REC.
You have to scroll to the playback menu to engage
stop record. Leaving this page immediatly returns the unit
to record.
When using it, I have to keep the transmitter handy
so as to access the front buttons and see what the
unit is doing. The buttons do not have a positive feel;
I need to see to confirm the unit is responding.
The recorded files are proprietary and must be converted
with ZAX convert software.
All in all, not the most elegant solution conceivable but the best,
and only solution available for small, powerfull, low-profile
performance.

Also of note:
The ONLY miniSD cards I can get
to work are the SanDisc regular speed.
I've tried five other brands including the recommended
Transcend high speed and none worked.
I can't understand this severe incompatibility.
The SanDisk cards (I have six) have each worked flawlessly.

I've never had a problem with any brand mini SD card BUT, as of now
you can't use cards larger than 2 gigs. The only time I've had
incompatibility issues was when trying 4 gig cards. Also, watch out
for cheepie no-name cards that have labels glued on rather than
printed right on the card. The label can come off and jam inside the
xtr. ... not that I'd ever use cheepie no-name cards... but let's say
it happend to a friend of mine

The next version of TRX900 software supports 4 gig cards and is now
compatable with many more cards of smaller memory sizes. This will
support up to 24 hours of continious recording in mono or stereo.

In the last couple of weeks I went through a set of 4 Transcends (x45)
and a knockoff SanDisk set. Both of them didn't work. Howy stated
Transcend (x80) worked, in fact he used one while I talked to him. In
the end, I also went with Sandisk. Could you let me know what brands/
speeds you have used successfully/not, I'm compiling a list.

Well I have attempted to use it with little success. I'm on a Mac but
I can't seem to get the card to download on my laptop. That's one of
the things I've been meaning to do...call Zaxcom and have them walk me
through it. Or call Trew Audio, which might be the better option.

Transend cards here (ordinary ones, not "high speed" ones) and no
problem(s) so far...  |

San Disk, 2 different 'no name' brands, 'Q' branded.. all 1 gig and 2
gig. Glad to hear that 4 gig capability is on the way. Thanks Glenn.
